When you go with a conventional solar company, you will get a long sales cycle, lot of people to talk to, service plans, warranty support and an extremely marked up price tag. Conventional solar is damn expensive for sure.

But, even with the high tag, they usually only do grid tied systems - just because it is easier ; no matter Home Owners have to wait for months for the Utility Company to allow them to turn on their solar system .

Unless you have $15K+ cash in the bank, we feel this is not a realistic proposition for the vast majority of Home Owners who are struggling with rocketing utility bills.

If you had that much liquid cash, you would not be struggling to pay the utility bills to begin with.

We believe there are a lot of Home Owners on the borderline who could go solar if there was an alternative. Our mission is to help them.

If you are a Home Owner who has less than $10K cash to pay for a solar install, and you are willing to do your home work, learn about solar technology, and are tech savvy enough to manage the install process yourself, instead of blindly relying on a solar company to do everything for you , our services maybe a good match for you.

You don't need to be a DIY guru to do this. Our founder TJ was able to navigate the process as a software engineer. Having any sort of Engineering Degree helps. If you did Electronics or Electrical in college, that helps as well. There are plenty of people who have learnt related areas in college. The rest you can learn online or on youtube like TJ did - just enough to navigate your way around the process.

For a system which lasts 25 years, it is un-realistic to imagine that the conventional solar company you went with would be around that long.

And you can't touch the system without voiding your warranty; upgrades cost almost as much as the original install - it's like a luxury car you can't modify, after purchase. We expect that the vast majority of solar owners will need to take control eventually.

It is important to remember that, in our process, you will be purchasing the most expensive solar components like panels, inverters and batteries from the vendor of your choice - online or retail. You can choose to pay with your credit card, if necessary.

You will finalize your purchase after consultation with our install team who will advice you on their pricing. Hence, you will be able to purchase whatever fits your budget, which we can install.

It is a simple model, which is easy to understand. Remember, we do NOT do anything else. No service contracts, warranties, long discussions with sales and support - nothing. It is a no frills approach designed to bring down the price of a solar install. This may not be for everyone.

Our model is not a good fit for people with a lot of cash in the bank, and no time to get into the details .

We are like the contractors who installed your new washing machine when you moved in. When it went bad, you contacted the manufacturer. They asked you to send it in for repair.

You contact us, if you are not comfortable working on the hardware. For a reasonable fee, we would come in and remove the equipment safely for you. You ship it to the Manufacturer, who repairs or replaces it and sends it back to you.

You call us back. For a reasonable fee, we can come back and install the equipment safely for you. In a similar manner, you would call us anytime you wanted to upgrade your install and repeat the install process.

Our methods are unconventional, but thrifty. By doing some of the work for which we would have had to hire a large support team, you help keep costs and markup down.

If you could do safely & legally do any part of the job yourself, you are never obligated to use our services. The lesser you need our services, the more you can save. That is the way we like it!

We only provide services - no service plans or warranties. We can get the parts for you, but you will spend more paying cash for the parts, and you may not get the best price from the local retain stores. This is why it is critical that you purchase the most expensive solar components like the solar panels, inverters & batteries yourself (in consultation with us for pricing and installability).

This approach is designed for those who have the time to understand solar technology, but don't have cash to pay for the parts and the install.

This approach is not recommended for people who don't have time, but have a lot of cash in the bank, so others can think about the installer and do the work for them. If you think about it, the level of service needed for that kind of support for a complex technology is why solar is so expensive to begin with.

Conventional solar is great - if you have the cash to pay for it. The one size fits all approach followed by the solar companies is the real problem.

During our discussions with multiple solar companies, we found out that most of them are very inflexible in terms of the solar design. They would do only grid tie systems, even though customers would have to wait months after the install to turn the system on, for the utility to process the inter-connection requests.

They did not care whether the customer was paid less for exporting solar to the grid, than they paid for electricity from the same utility. They did not care that some customers would prefer to store power locally and use it themselves instead of selling it for a loss to the utility.

Any battery options were super expensive by comparison, and their technology was behind the curve in terms of newer developments , preferring the slightly obsolete over the better & in many cases safer, newer technology.

Upgrades are difficult and expensive, costing almost as much as a new install, forcing the customer to pay too much to get the most expensive system at the get-go, that too in cash, when they are most vulnerable, and know nothing about solar.

An upgrade is treated as a new install, with all new components from A-Z, instead of adding on to the existing system, or designing the initial system for subsequent upgrade. It truly makes no sense!

In some ways, it makes sense for these companies to take care of themselves because they are beseiged under a ton of customer requests, which force them to hire a lot of people to deal with customers who know little or nothing about solar, and they also have to stay in operation for a very long time - which most of them may not.

Even solar companies which are pretty big have a tendency to wind down operations and emerge under a new name later to avoid having to handle long-term warranties. Unsurprisingly, the situation is the same for some manufacturers as well.

What happens to the customer who has been kept in the dark till they make that very first phone call to their solar company for support? They are totally helpless knowing nothing about their system and forced to hand out even more cash to someone else later, to do basic repair and maintenance.

The cheapest conventional option available today has major customer support issues, with people waiting months for the company to even debug the issue. Did you know that most customer support people have very little training, and often provide completely wrong answers. This is very common in larger companies and this is why you often get completely different, often paradoxical answers from different support people.

Did you know that very often, it is the largest companies, with the most employees, who you paid the most, which provide the worst possible support? That has been TJs experience.

We believe that working out warranty issues directly with the Manufacturer with support from the reputable website where you made the purchase, is a more effective approach. You would be able to fix issues much faster, and also feel secure that you can use our services for repairs and maintenance when necessary.

We believe that unless you have cash to burn, you will almost always be forced to learn solar over the lifetime of your system.
